Starfish A breathing chandelier. ![]() Event: PSI Venue: Volume, Brooklyn Date: 20040701-02 Description: This starfish-looking inflatable object uses light emitting diodes (LEDs) and motion sensors. The LEDs are trapped between [1] [2] [3] [4] sheets of plastic. The sensors are installed under the structure facing down. When someone passes under the bubble, the sensors stop the fan that inflates the starfish. This results in the deflation of the structure. It looks like the starfish is closing its arms onto the passer-by. As the person moves-on, the fan starts again and the starfish open its arms.
